You will have a 15 minute discovery call with me to make sure we are compatible. We will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, goals you may have, and what you are looking for in an effective therapist. We will also make sure we are a good fit in terms of fees and schedule availability.
Our first few sessions will be about getting to know you better, setting some goals or areas of focus, and just getting into the rhythm of our therapeutic work together. From there, some people choose to pursue short-term therapy, often focused on resolving a specific issue. Others may benefit from a longer term approach, allowing for deeper work that allows me to help you to move forward and establish strong foundations for long-term change.

In general, please be assured that therapy is confidential, meaning that what is discussed in sessions is kept private between the therapist and client. This means that unless you give your explicit permission to share information about your therapy sessions with someone else, or unless there is a legal requirement for your therapist to disclose information, no one else should find out that you are seeking therapy.
There are some exceptions to confidentiality, however. Therapists are legally required to break confidentiality if they believe that the client is at risk of harming themselves or others, if they suspect that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused, or if they are ordered to do so by a court of law.
It is important to discuss any concerns you have about confidentiality with your therapist and to ask any questions you may have about how your information will be kept private. This will help you to feel more comfortable and secure during therapy sessions, and will enable you to focus on your treatment goals.

Therapy is an investment in your mental and emotional well-being, and the costs reflect the expertise and time that go into providing quality care. Licensed psychotherapists and counselors undergo years of education, training, and supervision to gain the skills necessary to support their clients effectively. Additionally, therapy sessions require not only the time spent together but also time outside of sessions for ongoing professional development, supervision, and ensuring that each client receives personalized care.
Costs also help therapists maintain their practices, which include expenses like office space, insurance, and other administrative and small business costs and administrative tools. By charging fees that reflect the value of their work, therapists are able to dedicate themselves fully to supporting their clients while maintaining a sustainable practice. Many therapists offer sliding scales or other accommodations to make therapy more accessible based on individual circumstances.
-
I offer a sliding scale based on your individual circumstances. If we are unable to find a fee that works for both of us, there are a great many excellent therapists with different fee structures and availability and I will always be happy to share recommendations where I can.
-
The duration of therapy can vary depending on the individual's needs and goals. Some people may only need a few sessions to address a specific issue, while others may need ongoing therapy for several months or even years. We will discuss this at the onset of our work together, as well as periodically check in on the progress you are making and the ongoing need for and benefit of continuing therapy.

Yes, if you are in Singapore, I offer in-person sessions at a convenient location at Peninsula Plaza (City Hall).
-
Yes, we can meet online. It’s important to ensure that you have a stable, strong internet connection and a quiet, private space to attend sessions virtually, in order to have the most positive and effective experience of therapy. Of course sometimes this is not always possible, and we can discuss this further in our consultation call.
-
I ask for 24 hours advance notice of cancellations without which you will be charged the full session fee. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you.
I understand that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this happens to you, please contact me as soon as possible to explain the situation.
